At Physio For Seniors, our team is committed to finding the root cause of your condition and developing a treatment plan that addresses your needs and helps you achieve your goals.
Preparing for your first appointment at Physio For Seniors
Before your visit, make a list of questions you would like to ask the physiotherapist during your first meeting.
You will register at the front desk when you arrive at our office. We will ask for your insurance information, credit card and any other paperwork you may have brought with you (i.e., referral, X-ray or MRI report, and other medical reports)
What to bring:
- Credit card.
- Insurance information, including your insurance card and any necessary authorization or referral forms.
- Bring a list of current medications, allergies, and any relevant past surgeries.
- Be prepared to talk about your medical history, previous treatments, limitations you are dealing with, and other relevant details.
- Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows the physiotherapist to examine and treat the affected area. For example, if you have a knee issue, consider wearing shorts.
When to arrive:
- Plan to arrive 5-10 minutes before your scheduled appointment to complete any necessary intake forms and settle in. This will also give you time to ask questions and address concerns before your session begins.
What to wear:
- Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows ease of movement and access to the treated area such as tank top, t-shirt, leggings or shorts.
- Athletic wear or clothing that can be easily adjusted is ideal.
- Avoid wearing tight or restrictive clothing, such as jeans, which may hinder your ability to move freely during the session.
- Be prepared to take off your shoes and socks to have your feet and ankles assessed.
What To Expect
- During your first physiotherapy session, your therapist will typically perform a comprehensive evaluation that includes a review of your medical history, an assessment of your current condition, and an examination of your range of motion, strength, and movement patterns during your appointment.
- Based on the evaluation findings, our physiotherapist will devise a therapy plan for you. On the first day, you will receive an explanation, education, and treatments to alleviate any pain you are experiencing and initiate your recovery. You may also be given home exercises to support your progress.
- Each session after that will build on the initial evaluation to create the most significant impact possible toward your overall progress. The goal will be to help you recover quickly and achieve meaningful, lasting results.
- Communicating openly and honestly with our physiotherapist throughout the session is essential, as is sharing any concerns or questions you may have. This will help ensure the most effective treatment and a positive experience. We genuinely want to listen and understand your problem(s) in order to provide you with the best possible solution!
- Our Greater Vancouver, BC Area therapists will record their findings and treatment plan and can share those with any medical expert of your choosing. Our therapist will also discuss your goals at your first session and determine how long and frequently you should attend your physiotherapy sessions.
- You will arrange the remaining sessions at the front desk before leaving your initial appointment at Physio For Seniors. You may contact us at any time if you have any questions.
